July Franchisee Zoom Meeting Notes and Meeting Recording Link


Doug Fodrie from SW shared the following:

  • Most bodyshops are sub contracting the calibration/recalibration of ADAS sensors to third part companies.

  • Sherwin Williams formulas that have been certified/formulated to comply with Manufacturers' ADAS specs have an icon on the formula page that is a car with wifi signals radiating from it.

  • For blending solid pastel colors with BC8, SW has been testing 3 different approaches for achieving blendable matches. We should have their final recommendations on which of the 3 approaches works best for the largest percentage of formulas in the next few months.

  • We will definitely incorporate a hands on training class on blending solid pastel colors with BC8 at the next National Convention in Conway.

  • For blending solid pastel colors with 9K waterborne, users are not having issues with achieving blendable mixes.


Our discussion on ADAS Sensors included the following:

  • All technicians need to read the Manufacturer Statements on repairs/refinish near ADAS sensors because each manufacturer may have different requirements for what is acceptable for their particular type of ADAS sensor technology utilized. The permitted mil thickness for the coatings applied to a bumper over a sensor varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.

  • In general it is not permitted to do a structural repair of the plastic directly over a sensor location, because the change in overall thickness of hte

  • If we do a repair or refinish near an ADAS sensor, we should always notify the owners of the vehicle that the sensor should be recalibrated.

  • Some Enterprise regions/states are requiring their paint repair vendor to obtain the equipment required to do a pre scan/post scan of the ADAS system.

  • AirPro Diagnostics is one of the equipment providers that Enterprise is referring their paint repair technician to for the ADAS Scanning equipment.


Our discussion during the meeting and afterwards included the following related to our new Technician Certification Initiative:

  • Technicians involved in training and certification (Trainers) need to complete outside training such as:

    • SW Tinting Class

    • SW BC8 Class

    • SW 9K Class

    • ICAR - Refinish Tech PL 1-3

    • Glue Pull
